The damned buds of May

Posted on April 28, 2010

My worst season is upon us and if rumours are to be believed, this summer is to be hot so if you’re anything like me, preparation is key. Ok I confess, while I hate summer, I enjoy park life and as the volcanic as* has shown us, you can’t fight Mother Nature, so here’re MY pretty basic survival kit.

L – R [Dress £65, Whistles; Sheer silk blouse £515, Stella McCartney; Lace detail dress £45, O&O]

L – R [Silk embroidered organza gown £1865, Halston; Neck detail dress £228, Anthropologie, Stella McCartney; Tunic £216, Vivienne Westwood Anglomania]

L – R [Lace dress £215, Antik Batik; Peach dress £228, Miss Selfridge; Lace dress £189, Shakuhachi]

Clockwise from top left [Canvas Leather Sandal £358, Chloe; Flat Sandal £75, Bertie; Flat Sandal £19.50, Gap; T-bar detail Sandal £20, Warehouse; Bow detail Sandal £240, Lanvin; Strain Strap Sandal £145, Acne]

I am clumsy like a 3 yr old so I dress accordingly, if you’re anything like me, you’ll be needing straps too

Shorts and playsuits, necessary for random back flips while preserving your modesty

L – R [Dungarees £89, Cos; Issy Bell Trouser £65, French Connection; Denim Shorts £32, Oasis]

L – R [Sequinned Silk Playsuit £385, DKNY; Sailor Playsuit £58, Urban Outfitters; Floral Playsuit Shorts £38, Topshop]

L – R [Floral pocket short £25, Topshop; Sequin disco shorts £310, Ashish; Utility Trousers £38, Topshop]

Clockwise from L – R [Clear Glasses £18, Topshop; Floral Sunglasses £16, Urban Outfitters; Cats Eye Sunglasses £250, Cutler and Gross; Sunglasses $204, Retro Super Future]

Clockwise from L – R [Striped Sunglasses £16, Urban Outfitters; Circle framed Sunglasses £250, Erdem for Cutler and Gross; Futuristic Sunglasses £145, PPQ]
Scarf, cardigan, fan & umbrella, this is the unpredictable British weather after all.

And finally friends, if you’re in the capital like me, you will be needing tons of self control because it’s tourist city, so let’s align chakras, all together now ‘huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum’

Oh and yeah, a water bottle or three.

I’m a bit better with the Lagos heat thanks to the humidity, for me the London, when it’s hot, it BURNS.
